Biography

Igor Grant is the founding director of the Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research (CMCR) at UC San Diego, the first state-funded research center dedicated to rigorous clinical investigation of cannabis. Under his leadership, CMCR has conducted some of the most methodologically rigorous cannabis clinical trials in the United States, including placebo-controlled studies of smoked cannabis for neuropathic pain in HIV patients. Grant has also conducted extensive research on the neuropsychiatric effects of HIV and the cognitive consequences of cannabis use.
