The Entourage Effect
The entourage effect hypothesis proposes that cannabinoids and terpenes work synergistically — producing effects greater than isolated compounds alone. First described by Raphael Mechoulam in 1998, it may explain why whole-plant cannabis produces different effects than pharmaceutical THC or CBD. The evidence is compelling in preclinical models but clinical RCTs are limited.
